This year the German capital will host again the main conference dedicated to Digital Health: Frontiers Health 2019, which will be held from the 13th to the 15th of November in the prestigious location of AXICA, a stone’s throw from the Brandenburg Gate.
Digital Health is progressing at a great pace. This is demonstrated by this year’s major IPOs – first and foremost Livongo and Health Catalyst in the USA (both will be present at the conference), a turning point for the sector. This is confirmed by Marc Sluijs, DigitalHealth.Network Advisor, data on global investments in companies that deal with Digital Health: while in 2018 there was a real boom with a turnover of USD $19.9Bn, 2019 maintains a solid level of funding at $12Bn (YTD Q3).
Wanting to put the lens on the categories within the Digital Health world, the most globally funded companies in the first nine months of 2019 were telemedicine ($1.5 billion), analytics ($1.3 billion) and mHealth apps ($1 billion), followed by areas such as health service reservations, mobile wireless and clinical decision support.
Conference Chairman Roberto Ascione, CEO of the co-host Healthware Group, describes the event as follows:
The conference will be multi-format and interdisciplinary with inspirational talks, roundtables, interactive workshops, masterclasses, pitching events and one-to-one meetings sessions between innovative companies and potential partners in the Start-up & Investor Lounge.
Presentations, insights and discussions will revolve around eight macro themes: digital therapies, revolutionary innovations, medical-scientific validation, reimbursements and business models, strategic partnerships, digital transformation of healthcare, financing and M&A, innovative health insurance.
